I Really Do Cut and Paste

A Necessary Interruption!

Although I am in the middle of a 30 day challenge, I thought I had to stop and make a birthday card for my sister-in-law, whose birthday is Tomorrow! Alas, she will not receive it in time. I sketched out the picture on some notebook paper, and had to tape little additions of paper on where I ran out of room. I used several photos for my references. I also had my daughter to live-model for me as I needed the proper shape of some hands! Then, I had to go over the pencil marks with a fine-line Sharpie marker after getting the drawing like I liked it. Next, I reduced it on my copier to the size I wanted for the greeting card.
My next step was to take the reduced copy and my watercolor paper card to my home-made lightbox to trace the sketch onto the card. I used a fine tip Zebra pen instead of the Sharpie because I did not know if the marker would bleed into the paper or not. Finally, I was able to begin painting.
Of course, OF COURSE, I had to make a mistake when I was practically finished! As I was turning the card to paint the border, I smeared some of the wet paint! I covered it up with some Chinese White watercolor which worked fairly well. The boo-boo was on the top right corner; maybe you can see a little discoloration there. It is not too bad - whew!!  The inside of the card, and the lettering on the outside, also, was done with a red Sharpie.

Now, to get it in the mail! I hope "Better late than never" will apply here! LOL
