30 Day Challenge- Days 26-30

I survived the 30 Day Challenge of making a sketch every day for 30 days with No Erasing Allowed! But, I did not do it in 30 consecutive days like I had originally planned. There were a few days that things were so busy in my world that I had to put the sketching off. AND I must say, there was one day, and only one, that I did allow myself some erasing. All in all, it was good for me to put myself through this challenge and get a little more discipline going in producing and practicing my art.

Day 28 "I See" Rene is having a birthday!

I especially did this for posting on my Facebook page. I used to try to do a birthday sketch practically every day, either of friends or of a famous person. Once in a while I have started a drawing and posted the picture of the eyes and my friends would try to guess who I was working on. This time my subject said I really captured her eyes!

Day 30 Strawberry Tangle

My reference photo for this sketch was one I had taken of our strawberry patch, which was a tangle of strawberry vines and bindweed vines. Or maybe it was of Mom's patch, but I was thinking that she does not have bindweed. She has grown strawberries for years, and she gave us some runners once for us to start a little patch at our property. Sad to say, they have disappeared from our little plot now.

The most important thing I have learned (again) from this 30 day challenge is, Slow Down In Your Execution! I don't really know why I was rushing to finish every day when I first started the challenge. I find that is a character flaw I have, whether I am reading a book, working on art, or even eating a meal sometimes! I am hurrying to finish and not enjoying the procedure. This is one of the take-away lessons that I first learned at the workshops I have taken with artist Mitchell Tolle in Berea, Kentucky. Slow down and get it right!

I am really liking my new Micron 005 ink pen. It can make very light lines and darker ones too, depending on the pressure I use.
