What would I do without my recliner?!
I did these sketches back in 2016,
when I was trying to start Daily Drawing!
We are happy to have a recliner for each of us in our home.
I was fortunate to find a matching one in a thrift store that is
exactly like the two we bought brand new!
My husband's chair is leather.
Personally, I do not like sitting in a leather chair,
so it is really all his!
The patterned paper behind these sketches is an endpaper from an old book. I just love old papers that I find. Sometimes I will buy old stationery just because I fall for the design or color of the paper. I can't bring myself to use it! Hopefully someday I can incorporate some of the designs in my artwork. I am developing a pile of "stock photos" and papers that help spark ideas in my head. I don't seem to be able to come up with new ones by myself; I usually have to see something already developed before I can figure out what I like, or want to portray.
While browsing Amazon recently, I stumbled upon a book named "Steal Like An Artist" by Austin Kleon. The title was intriguing, so I ordered it. The author says things like, "Your job is to collect ideas. We are shaped by what we love. Every new idea is just a mashup or remix of one or more previous ideas (that someone else had)." The most important thing I got from the little book is, DON'T WAIT UNTIL YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE TO GET STARTED. Well, that is really what I have done a lot in the past. But just DOING IT makes me grow.
