Final Nature Journal Page

Call me successful at last! I have completed my year of nature journal pages that I started back in 2014. Today's last page contains both April and May of 2015.

Dear daughter Julia, my butterfly girl, was able to catch a large black swallowtail in April and it let her bring it inside to be admired by me! It sat quietly in her hand while I snapped a photo and then she took it back outside. I did not know before doing this page that this is our state butterfly.

May is the month for strawberries and iris blooms. My husband's mother keeps her strawberries going year to year. In times past, the family has gone out to the farm to pick strawberries for ourselves when she had a huge patch. Now that she is over 80 years old, she just keeps a small area of strawberries, and once in a while she will gift us with a large container full. She also has many different cultivars of  irises growing around her house. We have a few growing here at our place that she also shared with us.

I am very happy to have my one year of nature journaling completed! When I first started working steadily on it, I wondered how long it would take. But I kept at it almost every day and it has not really been  that long! It is really true, that you should work on your art every day, if at all possible. I am glad the family is at a point where I am able to devote some time to this pursuit, and they all encourage me in it.

Now I can move forward to some of my other artwork that I have been dragging my feet on finishing! Keep following for more updates!
