Family Night Fun

Tonight our family did something a little unusual. We got Dad to join us in a game of Catan at the kitchen table, and while I waited for my turn to play,  I added some watercolor to my old Nature Journal page that I started in 2014.  Usually I have to concentrate all alone when I paint, but since I was just adding color to my drawing it did not require me to retire into solitude. Often  my husband is busy out in his shop in the evening but once in a while we can all gather together to do a family activity on Sunday nights. My son asked me why I had not drawn in my journal while we were on our trip last fall, and I told him it was because I was not comfortable yet sketching in public, on the move, etc etc.
Hopefully one day it will be just something I do. I have always had the desire to, and now it looks like I may actually really grow to that point! I wish I had started doing this a long time ago. Just think how far along I would be in expertise now! 😃

Note: I had wondered how the handmade paper in this journal would take the watercolor paint because it is really thin in places, but I used mostly the wet on dry method of applying the colors, and it seemed to work alright. Also, I put some paper towels under the page just in case the paint wanted to leak through.
