30 Day Challenge- Days 1-8

Recently I discovered an art blog that I really like - Everyday Artist at lesliefehling.com  At one time she was doing a 75 Day Sketch Challenge, the idea being to draw one picture every day for 75 days, With No Erasing! I thought that was a great idea to keep me dedicated to my work and decided that if I changed the days to 30, just MAYBE I could do this, also!

So far I have done this for 8 days. I must confess that one day I forgot! until about 10 pm that evening. That was the day I was trying to get this blog up and going, so I think that is a good excuse!
Instead of doing a new post about this every day, I will probably wait until I have several days of No Erasing Sketching to share here.(Today's sketch will be #9, and I haven't got to it yet)

Day 1
This is my youngest daughter with her new nephew that was born in January 2018. I used a Sharpie fine-tip marker that unfortunately bled into the paper. I am using an inexpensive sketch book without the greatest paper. I learned to use a fine tip ink pen (mine is a Zebra). The result does not really look like the subjects, but it does resemble me when I was young, so maybe I am in the ballpark??

Day 2
Ha Ha! Little baby Frankenstein! I could not erase, remember! I started on the top of his head, and got the proportion off when I got to the eyes. So he has this terrible scar on his forehead! LOL! His head is really a lot rounder than this, but I kind of caught his expression.

Day 3
Oh dear! This one is not right! But "what's done is done, and can't be undone!" This no erasing stuff is really frustrating!

Day 4
This sketch is more like a contour drawing of my oldest daughter packing the diaper bag for their flight home from our place. But that is not a diaper, it is her husband's pompom hat!

Day 5
Now this is different! Here is my youngest son acting as chef. My pen made a blot on his cheek, and since there is NO ERASING I tried to cover it up with some shading, but it makes him appear to have a dimple, which he does not. He seems to be chewing on whatever he is cooking up!😃

Day 6
My sister-in-law had this cat for 18 years. They just had to say goodbye forever. I decided to leave the sketch unfinished and I think this turned out to be very interesting.

Day 7
I must say, this day I worked in pencil, and I HAD to erase, some. Here are my two youngest children, and Yours Truly. My selfie is hilarious!! I shared it on Facebook, and my kind friends told me that I really look better than this! 😃

Day 8
Another try at my grandbaby, back to the pen and no erasing. So far, this is my best result of sketching him. It still is not quite right. But I Could Not Erase!! LOL

This NO ERASING Challenge is quite the eyeopener! But it is fun to see what turns out. 😃
